About

Hi! This blog is hosted by Patrick Villella, Bob Eardley, Chris Perry, David Metcalf, & Isaac Harper. We are all Application Engineers at CADsoft Consulting and are focused on Building Solutions, BIM, and AEC (Architecture, Engineering, & Construction) applications. The job description “Application Engineer” is just code for “your job is never the same two days in a row” and means that there is always something new to learn. We work with Design firms all over the Southwest and always enjoy figuring out how to make your design software purr, helping our clients get the most out of their software, and implement BIM practices into your workflow.

The intent of this blog is to help share some of that with all of you. I hope you enjoy, and I’d love it if you learn a thing or two that makes your life a little bit easier!

Patrick Villella, LEED AP
For nearly 12 years, Patrick has been providing customized consulting, training, and implementation services to firms using AutoCAD Architecture®, Revit®, 3ds Max®, and Civil 3D®. He has worked closely with over a hundred firms throughout the Southwest. He is a regular speaker at ASU’s Master of Real Estate Development program, AUGI CAD Camp, and Autodesk University. As a Certified Revit Architecture Expert, he enjoys sharing his experience with anyone interested in harnessing this dynamic software.

Over the past 2 years I’ve really be focusing on learning about sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, and building performance — looking at ways to do all of these tasks more easily with software tools such as Revit Architecture, Revit MEP, Ecotect, and Green Building Studio.
