2010 Products? Already?

Yes, believe it or not, it’s that time of year. The beta versions of new Autodesk software have been in the hands of the testers (which includes Patrick and myself) for a few weeks now. In fact the Civil product is on it’s second beta release. Because beta testers are under strict confidentiality from Autodesk regarding the content of the beta releases, I can’t talk about specific features, but I can talk about some areas of the software that may be coming in future releases.

Certain aspects of corridor modelling could have some great enhancements in 2010. We will be able to do some really cool stuff. There could also be some interface enhancements; some new and some improvements. In addition to what I have already listed, without getting into great detail, the following is a list of categories which could have either new features or enhancements:

  1. alignments
  2. hydrology
  3. labeling
  4. parcels
  5. pipe networks
  6. surfaces

These are a few of the categories with enhancements that we could see in future releases. To get the rest of the descriptions and new feature listings of 2010, ……………..you’ll have to check back for a future post, possibly towards the end of March. Sorry about that!

Civil Infrastructure software is my main professional interest. Civil 3D, Infraworks, and Recap are what I work with mostly. I have been with CADsoft Consulting for over 10 years now. I got my start using Softdesk and AutoCAD R12 in DOS. My wife and I have four children and I am a die hard Red Sox fan.
