Service Packs……….Which One is Installed?

This post is to make you aware of two things: 1. the update 1 service pack for Civil 3D has been posted (the link to it is at the bottom of this post) 2. there is a major difference in the 2010 products that I ran across that you need to be aware of; the difference is in finding out which service pack is installed on the software. In previous releases, you could go to help, about, then product information to see which service pack was installed. Well, 2010 is not like that! There is no category for this! I did a search on the Internet and found an article from Autodesk for Inventor 2010. In this article, they mention that the only way to see if a service pack is installed is to go through the control panel and look at the list of installed applications. Make sure that the “updates” option is checked on. Well, I found one issue with this; the one for the Civil 3D service pack that I just installed doesn’t show up in the list! I will keep you posted on what I find out about this issue. Until then, here is the link to the new service pack (or update as it is being called) for Civil 3D 2010:

Civil Infrastructure software is my main professional interest. Civil 3D, Infraworks, and Recap are what I work with mostly. I have been with CADsoft Consulting for over 10 years now. I got my start using Softdesk and AutoCAD R12 in DOS. My wife and I have four children and I am a die hard Red Sox fan.

  1. Type AECVERISON at the command line in that it only updates some of the AEC functionality.
